Recipe #1: Breakfast Weight Loss Smoothie

Apple & Cinnamon Breakfast Smoothie

If you are a fan of having a sweet breakfast, give this healthy diet smoothie a go.  It is high in protein and a great source of calcium, fibre and vitamins to get you set up for the day. Cinnamon is a great addition as not only does it have an endless list of health benefits, regulates blood sugar levels, lowers “bad” cholesterol and reduces blood clotting to name a few, it is also what we call a Thermogenic – a food which will boost your metabolism, therefore resulting in a faster and more efficient fat burn!

Ingredients:

  • 5 raw almonds
  • 1 red apple
  • 1 banana (frozen for a thicker smoothie)
  • 190g 0% fat Greek yoghurt
  • 120ml almond milk
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Chop apple and banana into smaller bite size pieces
  2. Place all ingredients into a blender, blend on med-high for about 30 secs or until desired consistency.

Recipe #4: Post-Workout Smoothie

Peanut Butter Oat Smoothie

Try this delicious smoothie as your post-work out fuel. Bananas help restore potassium, which you lose while you sweat, and also offer fibre to promote gut health. Peanut butter not only is the most delicious thing ever, it provides a satisfying dose of protein and heart-healthy monounsaturated fats. The oats are a complex carbohydrate so will help replenish your depleted glycogen stores and keep you energised for the rest of your day/evening.

Ingredients:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 scoop protein powder

(vanilla or peanut butter)

  • ½ cup almond milk
  • 2 tbs peanut butter
  • ½ cup rolled oats

Directions:

  1. Place all ingredients into a blender and blend until you have a desired consistency.
  2. Top with a sprinkle of oats or a slice of banana.
